Our Secret Weapon for Flooded Basements

Our customers in Southern York County definitely experienced quite the storm the weekend of Christmas 2022! Many of our customers suffered flooded basements and homes due to the rain, melting snow, and heavy winds.

You may be wondering how we could possibly get rid of all that water. These submersible trash pumps are one of the many tools we use in these situations, and they're great for lowering the water levels quickly and efficiently. They're especially ideal for moving water that could contain debris, which is often the case when the cause of damage is ground water and/or ocean water running through your basement during storms.

Halloween Water Damage

This particular customer had a clogged storm drain which caused massive amounts of water to damage the basement level of the home. This job was a team effort between the SERVPRO crew and the plumber that showed up on site to snake the storm drain. This helped to ensure that the water would not continue to seep in and allowed SERVPRO to properly extract the water, and set up our equipment to begin the drying process.

Flooded basement

Customer's basement flooded with water after a storm.

When a summer storm and heavy rain hit, this customer's property was affected by over a foot of water in the crawlspace!

Our heavy duty truck mount was able to extract all that water with ease. We also left some fans to dry any additional moisture and by the next day our customer's basement was back to normal.

Pouring rain

During intense rainfall especially during the early spring while the snow is melting. As you can see in this photo SERVPRO was called into a basement that had some extra rain water seep in and leave just over a foot of standing water.

Extreme cold

During the winter months freezing temps cause pipe to freeze across New England. During this time if you are unfortunate enough to not be home for a few days you might see ice pour out from the side of your house!

Wood floor damage

SERVPRO was called on site to a home where 8 different types of wood where present throughout the home. The water damage was so bad that floor was pushing together completely destroying the wood flooring.

Flooding

As you have probably seen our location before, you probably haven't seen it like this. During torrential rains and mixing with a bridge was wasn't big enough to handle it resulted in our facility flooding. Since this happened the town has rebuilt the bridge to allow water to flow 10x through.
